gwyneth paltrow’s hamptons house

I like peaking into people’s houses! Especially if these houses belong to stylish people as Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth’s new summer home in the Hamptons, USA, was recently featured in House & Garden. The actress was very involved in the design of her serene new home. “I’ve become an encyclopedia of design for my friends,” she tells House & Garden.

Top image of kitchen: The spacious kitchen is lined with cabinets by Minkoff; the striking chandeliers are from Home and Co. for Birgit Israel, London; the concrete counters, from Remik Studio, Brooklyn, NY, are punctuated with a stove from Jade Range.

Image left of foyer: The bolero chair is from Mariette Himes Gomez for Hickory Chair, upholstered in Schumacher’s Lace in Aqua; Directions’ Glam console table is topped with a découpage barnacle lamp from John Derian, NYC; the needlework art is from Ann Carrington and the wallpaper is Zoffany’s Cordoba in Gray.

Image right: Gwyneth, wearing a Marc Jacobs dress, sits on Thomas O’Brien’s Farra cocktail ottoman for Hickory Chair, in front of her Odessa sofa by Les Migrateurs; the art is by Andy Warhol.

Paltrow likes clean lines and cool colors; her aesthetic can be described as minimalist with a feminine twist. To establish this look, she worked with architectural designer Michael Minkoff.

Top right image of staircase: Tom Dixon’s Mirror Ball pendants hang over the staircase.

Image below left of living room: Pieces from the Domus Design Collection are paired with Madeline Weinrib’s Hollywood Regency chair and china and vases from Calypso Home.

Image below right of bedroom: The bed is from Usona’s Thurman and is covered in Edelman’s Cashmere Calf in Super White; the Wendell Castle’s Muse side table is topped with Vaughan’s Lausanne Crystal lamp; the wallpaper is Wook Kim’s Feu in Gray; carpet is fromTai Ping and all bedding is from Donna Karen.

  • I love her home. Lots of people on other blogs have said its boring, and had NOTHING good to say about her home. It think it stunning! 🙂

  • I don’t like it. The minimalism mixed with chandeliers and pretty wallpaper, just doesn’t seem to go. It looks like a set for an Avril Lavigne music video. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just not to live in.
It just seems a bit too clean and pretty, but with no personality, and I found the clean, black, straight lines mixed with floral patterns jarring. Sometimes contrast works amazingly well, but here…. it doesn’t?
