I have summer on my mind! It’s is a lovely Spring day here in The Netherlands and in a few weeks time we will be off to Ibiza. Today’s post is about another beautiful rural summer home on Antiparos. Will this Greek island be our next holiday destination? Villa Elia is surrounded by a rural environment of sparse, small scale buildings, intense natural vegetation and crops of olives and vines. The ruins of a farm house formed the basis for the new dwelling. The design focussed on the reconstruction of an old house, preserving the traditional architecture and typology of the island of Antiparos. The two-bedroom villa can best be described as simple and humble, a building that remains close to the earth, respecting the landscape and embracing the user. The house and the environment co exist in harmony creating a unique scenery in the calmness that develops a simple lifestyle in direct contact with nature.
