After years of living in the city (Paris, New York and Stockholm) Peter Simonsson and his wife Henriette dreamed of a house with a garden where they could live, work and go to the beach with their daughters Faye. They found an old farmhouse in Österlen in Southern Sweden. After an extensive renovation (only the beams and doors were left from the original buildings) their family home ready. The minimalistic interior has has a modern and light feel to it. Antique furniture pieces are combined with more modern objects. The owners mainly opted for pure and natural materials which give a certain softness to the white, minimalistic spaces.

  1. It looks pretty but not very livable to me. Especially the dining room, no colors, no plants, barely any textile… It just seems cold to me, like dining in a museum.

  2. Another beautiful space. I agree with above to an extent, maybe a few more earthy tones to warm the space up a bit. The french style chair in the bedroom is simply transformative for the space adding charm and dimension, in the same way, the orange feature wall in the kitchen is fab.

  3. I love it. Beautiful, sparse, soft, abstract.
I kind of miss seeing the living area, because thinking of south Sweden I need a bit of wool carpet somewhere and my hope is that there is one there. Have a wonderful day!

  4. I liked, but for me it need more colour!!! This sofa on the bedroom is beautiful, but if it was more like Nessa sofa by koket for me it would be more joyful…

  5. wow!! it’s beautiful! I love this 🙂

  6. I really don’t think I’ve ever met a swedish home I didn’t love

  7. I think their favorite color is white 🙂 Seriously though, amazingly beautiful house, I’d love to do a houseswap with them for a few weeks!

  8. Very composed and presented; photographs are exquisite but as a home it lacks comfort.
Thank you for posting this; your blog is stunning.

  9. The comments here make me realise how personal a house is and how vulnerable you are when you place it out there in a sphere so public as the internet. Also I think the influence of the stilist involved with shooting the pictures should not be underestimated, they can turn pictures of your house into pictures of a place you have never seen before. I love this house because in a way it reminds me of a monastry, I think if I ever would employ an interior designer I would give him the feeling of a monastry as a brief.
    Kind regards.

  10. Wow, the stark white and then the dark cabinetry in the kitchen is completely amazing. It was not expected at all.

  11. I really love the color white when it comes to interior design. It always looks so lovely.
The bedroom you selected is amazing!
    Great job!

  12. I could just see myself going here to get away from the city! thanks for sharing!

    Love, Jamie Herzlinger
