Last time I showed you our bathroom and I promised that the next ‘tour’ would show the living room but as we are having beautiful sunny weather in this part of the world I think it is more suitable to show our garden first. Above you see the back of our home where we have a wooden terrace overlooking water and meadow land with grazing cows. The house is about 100 years old and it used to be a small farm. We don’t have any animals except for three lovely chicken who give us fresh eggs every morning. In the garden, which measures about 900m2, we have planted flowers in purple, pink and white. We also have some fruit trees such as an apple, pear, cherry and a prune tree. Very recently we built a playhouse (last image) for our son which of course he is very happy with! I hope you are enjoying the tour around our home so far. All images are taken by Paulina Arcklin.

  1. Gorgeous, Danielle! Love that your chicken coop (and chickens!) match your house. Your home reminds me of a lot of the English houses I see where I’m living, refurbished barns painted black like that– I love them.

  2. Oef, is me dat even een huisje om jaloers op te worden! πŸ™‚ Prachtig en prachtige tuin!

  3. Love the color of your house! And your garden looks gorgeous–do you take care of it yourself?

  4. Your house is beautiful and also the garden. Next year we will build a wooden terrace at our house and I also have a plan to plant pink, purple, blue and white flowers around it. I can’t wait. πŸ™‚
And I am also excited to see the other parts of your house. You have a good taste. And a very good photographer. πŸ™‚

Your home looks lovely and your garden space stunning!
I love the playhouse too, I bet your son wants to play there all day…:)

  12. Thanks for all your lovely comments! Some additional information & answers to your questions:

@casey: the outdoor couches are made of reclaimed wood. This type of outdoor furniture is quite popular in The Netherlands.
@anna: I do take care of our garden myself. Which is a lot of work! Once a year we have a professional gardener trimming the fruit trees and the larger plants.
@izzy: the breed of our chickens is Wyandotte. You can find more about this breed here:
