Villa Piedad in San Sebastián, Spain, was originally a two-family house built in 1950. The house has now been divided into eight small flats. When architect Marta Badiola first moved in to her apartment it had very low ceilings and it was divided into five tiny spaces. The solution was “total demolition” says Badiola, who was not afraid of this challenging project. She redesigned the apartment by arranging all its spaces around a central partition. The house is still not large, measuring a mere 57 square meters, but now space has been used in the most effective way.
