When Spanish interior designer Merixtel Riba saw this property in one of Barcelona’s most attractive neighborhoods she did not hesitate and made an offer on the run down-building. Merixtel was well aware that renovating the building and turning it into a modern home would be a challenge. The 400 square meter building would be used both as a showroom for here business as well as a private residence for the family. Merixtel tried to keep as much original features as possible. The result is a stunning mix of old and new. Vintage pieces are mixed with classic and modern design. And the overall atmosphere is a combination of Scandinavian style and Mediterranean influences. I like how rugs are used to give color and texture to the various spaces.
