sad news to share

Dear readers, you might have noticed my absence last week. There is a very sad reason for this. My mother, who has been ill since last year, passed away last Wednesday. We knew that this day would come but it is still very hard to cope with. Thank you to all of you who have supported me with comments and personal email over the past months. This is very much appreciated.

Although I am having a hard time right now and my heart is filled with grief, I will try to continue blogging on a daily basis as usual.

Love, Danielle

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I just wanted to say that my mother has been ill since last year, and I often come to your wonderful blog to look at beautiful rooms, houses and objects to get my mind off of things. Thank you for your work and my condolences to you and your loved ones.

  • I am very sorry for your loss. Though we’ve never met (and I’ve never commented before), I’ve always enjoyed your work and I hope you can find peace in these troubled times. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  • So sorry about your loss. I wish you and your family strength and patience… My heartfelt condolences.

  • I am so sorry for you. It is tough, I know since I lost my mother this summer, also after a couple of years illness. It doesn’t matter that you know that this day will come, there is nothing that prepares you for it when it actually happens. A mother is everything, and there is a swedish poem which roughly translates as: Loosing a mother is like loosing one point of compass.
All my best to you and your family, take care of yourself at this sad time.
    Maria

  • My sincere condolences. I’ve been quietly following your blogs for years but I had to say something this time. I’ve been there. It’s hard, it sucks and everyone grieves differently. Allow yourself to grieve your way, stay positive as much as possible and it gets better with time . All the best 🙂

  • Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother…bless you and may the love of the world surround you and your family to help you all through this time….

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your loss.
I know no words can help you through this. I know each and every one has their own process in grief and that’s the way it has to be.
I lost my dad a few years ago. Not expected and way to early. I think a loss like that is something you never get over, you just have to learn how to live with it.
As hard as it sounds, it actually gets easier and you do manage living with missing your mother/father each and every day.
For the first three years, I thought about him several times every day. Today, 6 years later, I think about him every now and then. Sometimes I cry, but mostly I smile within thinking about all the good memories we have.

It’s not the years that count, it’s the content within the years.

I send you all my love!

  • Peace to you and your family in this difficult time. That a stranger such as myself feels compelled to write, just goes to show what a what a wonderful, talented daughter your mother raised. She was, is, and will always be proud of you.

  • Dear Danielle,
I am so very sad to hear of your mother’s passing. You are in my thoughts, and I am sending prayers for you and your family. -Liza
