Recently we spent two wonderful weeks on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The first week we stayed in Hotel Esplendido, a luxurious hotel in Port de Soller in the north of Mallorca (I will share more about this hotel in a later post). The second week we had booked La Basa, a beautiful holiday finca in Sóller. I’d like to share our experiences with you as we absolutely has a wonderful time here. Surrounded by mountains in an evergreen valley full of citrus and olive trees, the setting of the characteristic yet contemporary design finca is just perfect. The historic centre of Sóller, where can you find various shops & restaurants and a bustling market on Saturday, is less than 10 minutes away by foot. Dutch owners Nico and Kristien have renovated the ancient building with a lot of love, creating a comfortable and contemporary home. From the outside authentic and characteristic, inside La Basa is beautifully decorated in a organic blend of modern design and original elements in pure, local materials such as stone, steel, wood and concrete. La Basa has a stylish living room, a spacious modern kitchen and can be easily extended from one master up to three bedrooms each with private bathroom, which makes it not only a heavenly hideaway for a couple but also a perfect home to share with family or friends (suitable for up to 6 guests). I have not mentioned the large garden yet! Looking out from your hammock, the benches under the old almond tree or the loungers next to the modern salt water pool you have a magnificent, panoramic view on the Sierra Tramuntana mountains (which is a World Heritage Site). I can truly recommend this Mediterranean hideaway! For more information & bookings you can visit La Basa’s website.
Kristien & Nico about their beautiful sanctuary: “With our ‘basic luxury’ concept La Basa continuously searches to offer a relaxed, contemporary but personal address to today’s frequent traveller. Still it needs to remain affordable by creating an optimum between basics and luxury. Though, in our enthousiasm, we might have stretched it a little to the luxury side;-). Whereas many holiday homes are often annoyingly (too) basic, La Basa aims to be a complete casa to give you a true home-away-from-home feeling. Just because on holiday things have to come together, right?! Fresh, creative ideas and a sharp eye for details make the difference.”
