a white family home

I do love an all white home but with children it is not very practical. But Paula Ekland has four children and the white color scheme in her family home in The Netherlands seems to work. Paula: “The more white I added, the calmer I felt”. I have featured some images of the Ekland family’s home before (for example you can see the photo with kids drawings here) but I was happy to find more pretty pictures of this home on the IKEA FAMILY LIVE website.

  4. Beautiful, but I can only imagine how hard it must be to keep all that white clean with little ones around!

  5. Hi Danielle,
I visit your blog everyday but usually don’t comment on it. πŸ™‚
Today I want to say I’m over white on white :). It was a trend that captured me at the beginning, but the more white houses I see the less I like them. I love white walls, but I need a punch of colour somewhere and wood to warm up everything.
In this case, specially, I find it sad that the kids must live in a white world without colours to inspire them… to me it’s like a brand new colouring book.
    Just my thoughts,
    Happy day πŸ™‚

  6. Why are all these houses so impossibly white and light? Most of us don’t live in houses like this πŸ™ In fact they look as if no-one actually “lives” them either. You could get the impression that the whole of Scandanavia is a Vogue showhome. Anyway, always enjoy your posts, keep on posting.

  7. Wow, part of me really likes this, but I also agree with some of the other comments that it might feel a little sterile to actually live somewhere so… clean! My favourite photo was the one of the kid’s drawings, because the way they were displayed is lovely, and also it was the only picture with any colour! Lovely house, but not for me!

  8. Very nice home.

  9. I love the home. White doesn’t feel sterile to me at all, it’s calm and clean. I love white on white, just so relaxing to me. I often feel bad for loving it so much because it does feel so simple. But less is more. And the simple things are often really profound aren’t they?

  10. Beautiful home and so calming. Glad to see some colour though, otherwise the children would be sensory deprived!

  11. Love their home. It’s so beautiful and bold with kids their age. I’m in love with their couch/sofa (shown in the picture with the lantern and someone snuggled under the blanket). Does anyone know where it’s from or know of a similar looking one?

  12. what an amazing family home, love that its all in white.
I’m inspired for my kitchen revamping post tomorrow!

  13. the kids space is absolutely stunning

  14. I would love to know where you got the wire hanger deals for kids art work or what they are called so I can search for them .

  15. A little too institutional looking, and also I doubt I’d ever be able to relax there, even if was my house. Imagine drinking red wine on that couch! (Or anywhere else.) Not for me.

I love the white on white ,its so calming and refreshing, and you can add a bunch of colour to change how you are feeling with out costing to much ,ive done a white on white kitchen and bathroom and it always looks lovely and clean and then i change my coloured towels and bathmats ,that gives it a new look each time,
