hikari lights by rasmus fenhann

hiKARI is a series of timber lights by Danish woodworker and furniture designer Rasmus Fenhann, which were exhibited at the Made in Denmark exhibition at 100% futures in London last September.

The hiKARI lights were inspired from Rasmus Fenhann’s studies in Japan where he worked with very skilled craftsmen. The knowledge he gained about the skills of the Japanese lamp makers was transformed into a contemporary lamp concept called hiKARI, which means ‘light’. The shape of the lights comes from the mathematic Polyether geometry and this design makes them very strong and therefore the material is extremely thin (1.8 mm). The handmade Japanese Koso Paper is very strong and it gives the light a natural tone and softness.
