I have some great news! I am a BIG fan of Sanna Unnukka (perhaps you know her of the album cover she did for Keane). This very talented lady has now opened an online shop. A fab new range of limited edition silk screen and lithograph prints is available. The lighthouse keeper sailing across arctic shores, maidens of the midnight sun dancing and singing charms and flocks of golden birds are just some of the themes for Sanna’s new print range. The prints have a size of 50×70cm and are signed and numbered by artist. The price is £260 (unfortunately the British pound is very strong..). The Angel of the North litho costs £85.
Isn’t this exciting news? There are many more products to come in Sanna’s shop, including limited edition textile wall hangings, a bespoke T-shirt range and all sorts of other collectible goodies.

The +336+, designed by Robert Stadler of the French design group Radi Designers, is a mirror that is able to receive SMS messages sent from a mobile phone. The messages appear as luminous text, running on the mirrors’ surface when one gets close to the mirror. This clever piece of design is not affordable for most of us: this limited edition (of 20) costs $10,000! If this price tag is not a problem, you can purchase the mirror at Generate.

I LOVE the gorgeous Swan Chair designed by Arne Jacobsen. The chair, manufactured by Fritz Hanson, is available in different colours and fabrics.

The Botanist Series, designed by Dario Antonioni and Brandon Lynne from Los Angeles based Orange22, features beautiful botanical graphics cut into sleek metal forms. The series consists of a cocktail table, nesting end table, and bench, combining the precision of minimal design with the beauty and feminine touch of nature. The powder-coated pieces are ready for outdoor use; they employ industrial grade enamels and aluminum, which naturally resists corrosion, while the wood veneers bring the outdoors in.
Brandon Lynne explains, “With Botanist, the challenge was in both design and manufacturing. We started with a beautiful form, and worked meticulously to ensure it would be easy for us to manufacture and sell at an appealing price.” Orange 22 strive to design affordable luxury. “While we appreciate original modern furniture, not everyone can afford it…” explains Dario Antonioni. “It’s important for us, as designers, to strive to make beauty accessible”. I can not agree more!
Don’t forget to send in your entry for the Little Fashion Gallery quiz. Today is the last day that you can send in your correct answers and have a change to win a €150 gift voucher! Read more about the contest here.

Isn’t this log truck a gorgeous piece of toy? The logs on this truck, which is made by Frank Ridley, were cut from the ash trees behind the artisan’s barn workshop. The truck itself is made of untreated Maine pine, maple, and ash, and hand sanded to a satin smooth natural finish. It is available for $42 from Greenjeans, a shop, website, and blog owned and operated Amy Shaw and Jae Kim, and based in Brooklyn, New York.
It is worth browsing their website by the way as Greenjeans is the next generation American craft gallery providing valuable alternatives to the mass-produced, corporate-driven wares that dominate the marketplace today. All works at Greenjeans, from pottery and furniture to toys and jewelry, are created with integrity and distinction by richly talented independent artisans from around the United States, as well as one each from Canada, Japan, and the UK. Currently, Greenjeans works with over 50 artisans, most of whom are represented exclusively by Greenjeans in New York City.

Another gorgeous house for some weekend inspiration! It is no secret that I like light, airy spaces in neutral colours. But for those preferring more colour, I promise to post about more colourful interiors again soon. The photographer who shot his stylish UK home is Paul Massey.

I love that spacious kitchen! This is a necessity for our next house: it should have a kitchen that can fit a large dining table. I have more wishes like this, no wonder we haven’t find the house of our dreams yet…

Marjon Leek from The Netherlands designs under the name BAGLADY. All her gorgeous bags are made from recycled leather. Browsing through her collection you can see that Marjon is inspired by the tulip. In her work space in Amsterdam Marjon gives a workshop ‘restyling’ where you can learn how to reform an existing piece of clothing to a one of a kind design. Not only do I love the idea of recycling clothing (environmental friendly!) but this workshop sounds like a lot of fun too!

Dwell has a new addition to their collection: dwelltable. This 100% linen collection consists of three different patterns of napkins: Embroidered Border, Pin Dot, and Bodoni, and placemats: Astor, Flora, and Sketch and two table-runners in Flora and Sketch. With interchangeable patterns, this line allows you to mix and match to suit your own individual style. The colour palette is sophisticated, the graphic prints elegant and clean with a mid-century feel to it.

The whole line is just very pretty and elegant! I especially love how the designs beautiful match with that wooden table. Dwelltable is available from dwellshop and from Design Public.

This CAPSULE Turntable Room by Jane Hamley Wells is perfect for outdoor dining! With the rotating base you can move this ‘room’ with the sun, keeping you in the shade (or in the sun if you prefer) all day. It looks comfortable and very inviting. I just love it!

As it is summer (although I start to doubt as we have had so much rain the last couple of weeks and no sunshine at all) I will be posting about outdoor related design today.
Michael Hilgers is the designer of these On The Edge Pots. The pots, designed to straddle the railing of a balcony, are made from water-resistant polyethylene and can rest on any railing with a maximum thickness of 60mm. Two separate compartments offer multiple planting options. The On The Edge Pot is ideally suited for urban dwellers with limited outdoor space, but can easily be used in the workspace or restaurants to liven up a patio. Available in various colours from Design Within Reach for $85.

I like these colourful footstools by UK designer Steven Biddulph. Besides the original version (just choose a plain fabric and a base colour), there are also limited editions available where original artwork is printed onto 100% cotton fabric. The custom version allows you to print your own photographs or graphics onto the fabric top. Visit Steven Biddulph’s website for more information. The limited editions are available from UK online store Bouf

Yasha Butler is a ceramic artist from Philadelphia, USA. She makes beautiful one of a kind objects from porcelain. Most of the pieces have unglazed, bare surfaces, which give them an organic feel. Check out her Etsy shop! Yasha has some gorgeous pieces available.

Recently I discovered the beautiful work of Aleksandra Gaca. This textile designer, who is based in The Netherlands, is fascinated by three-dimensional weave
structures. Her experiments with self-made weaves and unusual materials have generated innovative fabric structures. Aleksandra draws inspiration for abstract architectural concepts such as rhythm and grid, but also from dance and movement. Her experimental textile designs have earned her a number of international awards, such as Decosit Awards (Belgium), the Dutch Design Award and Neocan Awards (USA).

One of my favorite designs is the shawl from the Slumber collection. This collection
was developed by commission of the Nederlands Textielmuseum (Netherlands Textile Museum) in Tilburg and woven on its jacquard weaving machine. The designs are characterized by stretchy, three-dimensional relief structures – triangles, ovals and ripples – that deform through use, creating a feeling of rhythm and movement. As a spin-off, several consumer products have been launched: various sculptural hassocks and a series of royal shawls. The shawls are available in two varieties: an open/elongated shape and a surprising ‘endless’ shape that can be worn in several ways.
Visit Aleksandra’s website to see her entire line of work. You can find more information on retail points here or send an email to info@aleksandragaca.nl.

I am so happy to have another contest at the style files! The great people from Little Fashion Gallery are giving away some fabulous prices. All you have to do is answering the two questions below (you can find the answers on Little Fashion Gallery’s website):
1. What is name of the boy who’s Little Fashion Gallery’s face (left image)?
2. From which year is the Casalino chair by Bianca & Family (right image) dating?
Please send you answers to danielle@style-files.com, I will draw the winners on 9th July. The winner of the first price will get a €150 (!) gift voucher from Little Fashion Gallery. They have the best collection of children’s clothing, furniture and toys so it will be hard to choose. I for example love the modernist dollhouse from Sirch. Four other winners will get one of those cute Rosie Flo colouring books. So start browsing the Little Fashion Gallery website to find the answers now!
Good luck!

I don’t think you would mind if you child leaves this very stylish dollhouse lying around in your living room. The mordernist dollhouse by Sirch is simply gorgeous. I wonder if they have bigger versions (one that will fit me!).. Available from Little Fashion Gallery.

Summer seems far away in this part of Europe. It has been raining for weeks and temperatures are below normal. To get some summer feeling I’d like to show you this gorgeous beach house. The house is located in Yzerfontein, South Africa. I love the stunning views of the ocean and the view! The colours and materials chosen for the interior complement the beautiful exterior perfectly. Wishing I was there…

Through Homebug I found out about these Orla Kiely ‘design packages’. British company Luxe Interior offer these packages to individuals, developers, investors and hoteliers in Dubai.

I am not too fond of the idea of standardising interiors with design packages. It leaves little room for individuality and creativity and every interior will look very similar. But as I know that there are a lot of Orla fans out there, I wanted to share share these images anyway.

Check out the beautiful work from Jorine Oosterhoff! This Dutch designer mainly works with porcelain and ceramics for her own label JORINE. She lets her products become characters, like individual things that seem to live their own life. They have their own identity and personality. Sometimes they seem to come from a fairytale-world.
“Tea Time” is a high tea-set based on different kind of characters. They live their own life on the table like a little nation. The beautiful vases are made from porcelain and are glazed on the inside. Visit JORINE’s website to see more of her beautiful work!

FTF Design Studio is the furniture line of Roseann Repetti and her husband, architect West Chin. This New York based couple has designed and decorated many celebrities’ homes. Reacting to the overall enthusiasm they received from their clients and peers, West and Roseann decided to launch a home line created for their private clients to the public. Their collection of (serving) trays is beautiful designed: the trays are minimalistic yet very elegant.
Roseann Repetti cultivated her sensibility for fabrics, textures and home via her extensive 17 year career in fashion. She has been a fashion editor & stylist for various magazine titles, including Elle, Italian Vogue & Marie. Roseann brings a very luxurious, modern understanding of design to FTF. West Chin’s philosophy is to combine comfort and versatility with a modern, clean and pragmatic approach. West is constantly in pursuit of merging style with functionality, a process that he was exposed to at a young age through his architect father. FTF is short for “First to Fly”, which is the translation in Chinese of West’s middle name, Yit Fee, which symbolizes the first born son in America.
On their website you can view their entire work. Their home products are available from Unica and NY Suite.
