Tim Groen was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, but is now based in New York where he works as an illustrator/artist. Tim first started making collages incorporating vintage wallpaper in 1999. Over time he has perfected his technique, and uses acid free backing and adhesive to protect the vintage materials.

I love the retro feel Tim’s works have. He draws inspiration from his collection of mid-century pottery, lamps and tchotchkahs, and masters as diverse as Giorgio Morandi, Le Corbusier and Myron Stout. Tim prefers spreading his work through prime design retailers, rather than through art galleries, because in the end, he says, “I just want to be a part of what people do to make their place look cool.” His work is available from Velocity.
